Meet the girl behind the lens
Hi everyone! Kaitlynn, here, of Kaitlynn Rivera Photography. I cannot even explain how excited I am that you're here and reading my First. Ever. BLOG! I've thought about writing a blog for years and I'm finally just jumping right in and doin' the darn thing haha. This blog will be all bout about me, the business, and life with the hubs and our 3 girls! (For those of you that might not know me personally, "the girls" are our 3 pups - Millie, Bailey, and Nani <3)
^ Random photos of the hubs and I on our first trip to Chicago! ^
First off, a little randomness about me -
I'm married to the most kind, loving, and hardworking man.
We live in Richmond, KY with our 3 girls.
I work a full time job as a clinical assistant at a dermatology office.
I could spend an entire day curled up on the couch reading a good book.
Netflix is my guilty obsession.
I love to be outside and hiking in the summer is my favorite "day off" activity.
My dream is to travel the world with my guy and take so. many. photos!
Bacon is my favorite food. I'd eat it every day if it was as healthy for you as broccoli.
When I have the time (which is not nearly as often as I'd like) I love working out and lifting weights.
And last, but certainly not least, I'm obsessed with taking alllllll the pictures!

Second, my photography journey -
It all started my senior year of high school with a little iPhone app called Instagram. I downloaded this brand new app because it was all about photos and, even at this time, I was drawn to beautiful and captivating images. I would scroll for hours on end just looking at all these beautiful photos by professional photographers. The app, in its infant stages, was geared to only professional photographers. The layout was different from what it is now and it was really cool to get on there and see all these world class photographers sharing their images and connecting with others from all over the world. One day I decided I wanted to start posting my own photos and that led to me spending hours trying to create interesting self portraits (ones that are absolutely cringe worthy nowadays LOL). Fast forward a few months and I had a decent little following and I thought I was cool stuff, ya'll. Haha. But that little app was what really set off this passion of mine.
Then during my freshman year of college, my mom (and biggest supporter of my creative heart) helped me purchase my first DSLR! Thomas and I had just started dating and, bless his heart, he let me take that camera everywhere lol. Especially on hiking trips. He's the kind of guy that loves the challenge of hiking up the side of a mountain at a decent pace. Well, here I was stopping every 2 seconds to take a photo of this flower, or that bird, and even sometimes his handsome face ;). And let me tell ya, he was a SAINT haha. He never once complained and boy do I love him for that.
Fast forward to now - Thomas is just as obsessed with photography as I am! I can't even explain to you guys how much I love that we share this passion together. To be able to share something like this with my husband has been so special and sweet. Now, we plan hiking trips and vacations with photography in mind - where can we go that will give us the opportunity to take awesome photos?! We have so much fun with it and its been wonderful having him second shoot most of my sessions with me.
